Equipment Needed:
2 - 100 Yard (300ft) Tapes
25 - Nails w/Stake Chasers (Sometimes called "Markers" or " Little Fuzzy Things")
2 - Rolls Nylon String
6 - Cans Spray Paint
1 - Can of Upside Down Marking Paint
1 - Stripping Machine
1 - Hammer
Layout Corners and The Midfield:
1. Stretch tape between Corner 1 and Corner 2 using the measurement for the width (A) and mark with nails, also mark the midpoint of the goal line (this will be used in laying out the boxes), ½ of measurement (A)
2.Place one tape on nail at Corner 1 and the 2nd tape on nail at Corner 2 3. Stretch 1st tape between Corner 1 and Corner 4 using the measurement for the length (B) 4. Stretch 2nd tape diagonally between Corner 2 and Corner 4 using the measurement for the diagonal (C), this creates a right triangle 5. Pulling tapes tight, put a nail at Corner 4 where the two measurements (B & C) intersect 6. Mark (place nail) the midpoint of the touchline, measurement (D), or ½ of measurement (B), while tape is stretched between Corner 1 & Corner 4 7. Mark (place nail) the center of the field, ½ of measurement (C), while the tape is stretched between Corners 2 & 4 8. Move tapes from Corner 4 to Corner3 and repeat steps 5 & 6 to establish Corner 3, the midpoint of the touchline, and verify the center using step 7 9. To verify the (A) measurement between Corners 3 & 4, stretch tape and make adjustments (usually ½” to ¾” off), also mark the midpoint of the goal line (used to layout the boxes), ½ of measurement (A) 10. To verify the midfield measurements place a tape at the center of the field and measure out to each touchline (sideline), usually nor more than ½” off 11. Stretch string tightly around the corners and between midfield points12. Place a tape on nail at the center and with upside down spray can (keep the tape taunt), mark the radius using the "R" measurement. Walk in a circle, duck style, marking with paint every 2 or 3 feet. Mark solid with paint machine. NOTE: Don't do this if you have a bad back
13. Place tape on nail (center of goal line that you marked in steps 1 & 9) and place nails at #2, #3, #4, & #5 using measurements “E” and “F”
14. Put second tape on nail #2 and stretch both tapes using measurements “L” & “M”, place nail (#10) where measurements meet. This is where penalty kicks are taken and also used to layout the semi-circle NOTE: When stretching the tapes make sure each tape is tight and where the numbers meet place the nail 15. Move tape from nail #1 and place on nail #3. Using measurement “H” and “J” mark corner #6, then using measurement “G” and “K”, mark corner #7 16. Move tapes to nails #4 and #5 and repeat step 15 above 17. Place a tape on nail #10 and with an upside down spray can (keep the tape taunt), mark the partial semi-circle using the “R” measurement. This measurement is always the same as the radius of the center circle 18. With the string, layout the boxes - be sure string is taunt between the nails or you will have a cooked line19. Place a tape on nail in corner and with upside down spray can (keep the tape taunt), mark the corner arc using the "Corner" measurement.
Painting (Marking) and Cleanup:
20. Paint and remove all the strings and drive the nails (set them with a larger nail) with the tassels into the ground, leaving about 1” of the tassel sticking out of the ground
