Marvin Bendele

President

I started coaching my daughter's NASA team in 2018, and have since added a couple of other NASA teams to my slate. Soccer promotes teamwork, physical fitness, creativity, and challenges players individually to set and meet goals -- all skills needed later in life. I believe wholeheartedly in NASA's mission to offer the opportunity to learn and practice these skills through soccer to as many kids as possible.

Vice President

I was lucky to play recreational team sports as a kid, with soccer being the most dominant, even though my parents never did. I have now coached my kids’ soccer team for 4 years and have come to appreciate how much the city (and society) needs accessible sports teams to help kids develop as people. Lessons from sports have appeared in my professional life for as long as I can remember and have helped me connect with people all over the world. I feel that kids today should have an affordable, fun, and competitive way to exercise, learn teamwork, and develop creativity and lifelong skills on and off the field, and I am excited to make that possible.

Secretary

I joined the Board in 2019. My daughter has played for NASA for several years and recently, they needed a coach for her team. I stepped up to coached her team and it was a great experience. As a first time coach for NASA, I’ve learned that working as a team is what it is important. I believe every kid deserves to play and NASA gives the opportunity. Then, recently I started to attend NASA meetings and it was a fun experience discussing soccer ideas. I am thankful to be part of NASA so I can be involved in my community and help children in a soccer environment.

Treasurer

I have enjoyed serving on the board the past few years and welcome the opportunity to serve with NASA again for the upcoming year, with this amazing group of people who keep this club rolling. I’ve enjoy playing soccer each decade from the 80’s, and coached all three of my boys in rec leagues for 18 years.

Recreational sports provides camaraderie, fitness, opportunities to overcome adversity, and fresh air. NASA provides these opportunities to kids and, from my experience, has a holistic view of recreational sports that emphasizes health and well-being, personal development.

I coached U11-U14 with NASA, stepping in during my son's first season in the league when the assigned coach dropped out unexpectedly. I loved the challenge of growing kids through soccer and earned 2 grassroots licenses in the process.

I'm passionate about recreational sports and the role they play in supporting kids emotional, social and physical growth.

I grew up playing in a volunteer-run rec soccer league on cow pastures in Leander, the only option at the time for my family given the cost and commitment required of select clubs. That experience was invaluable to me and I'd love to support NASA in continuing to provide opportunities to make the game available to everyone today.

In my work life, I am a former math teacher. Currently I am a project manager for a small tech startup focused on community building.

I've coached both of my sons' teams since U5 here with NASA in 2012. Our teams have now basically grown up on NASA soccer fields together. For many years I have enjoyed volunteering in the Austin community for various organizations, projects and youth programs. Born and raised played soccer in Austin, I've been involved in local soccer for over 35+ years.
